History

Established in 1956 by PG Emmerson, PolyCello is now a premier flexible packaging manufacturer in North America, servicing multi-billion dollar global players in Canada and across the US. We have built a strong foundation for over half a century while recognizing the need to constantly embrace change and continuously improve in order to compete in the dramatically evolving manufacturing environment.

Today, our state-of-the-art plant in Amherst Nova Scotia is the largest flexible manufacturing facility in Canada under one roof, and we have strategically added another plant in Belleville, Ontario.

PolyCello’s name evolved from a combination of words that reflected its core business at the time – “Poly” from Polyethylene, a key component in the bread bags the company produced and “Cello” from the cellophane which was used predominantly to wrap items such as cookies and tomatoes at that time. PG Emerson’s simple philosophy was to provide a superior quality product and service his customers better than the competition.

Now under the third generation guidance of Stephen Emmerson, President and CEO since 2004, PolyCello continues to step up with an unparalleled dedication to quality and craftsmanship, outstanding in-house capabilities, superior customer service and a pro-active commitment to sustainability initiatives.
