Announced on February 2, 2009, PolyCello was the newest Nova Scotia-based company to be recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for 2008, honouring Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in
innovative ways.
“We would like to congratulate PolyCello and its entire workforce. Achieving Canada’s highest level of Canadian business excellence takes a united effort and we are privileged to acknowledge such a strong team” said John Hughes, Partner, Private Company Services group with Deloitte, a national sponsor of the Best Managed program.
“Today’s market place is not just about the investment in the product; it is also about the investment in the people. PolyCello invests in their team to build up a strong and stable company. Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies carries this attribute and we are pleased to say PolyCello is one of this year’s recipients.” John Hughes, Partner, Private Company Services group with Deloitte, a national sponsor of the Best Managed program.
“It takes a company focused on values, a strong business plan, and most of all hard work, to succeed in today’s market place” said Calvin Younger, Senior Vice-President, CIBC Commercial Banking. “Companies winning this year’s Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies exemplify these traits.”
“The award is recognition of our competitive advantage—the talent, commitment and dependability of our people,” said Stephen Emmerson, president and CEO, PolyCello. “To be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed is a significant honour and one in which we are extremely proud. Now, packaging is not just a potential marketing tool—in some cases, consumers are looking at packaging as potential waste. By producing greener packaging, we’re helping our clients address this growing concern.”
Celebrating its 16th anniversary, Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million. Every year since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices.
The awards are granted on three levels:
- Best Managed winner (one of the 50 new winners selected each year)
- Requalified member (repeat winners retain the Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review)
- Platinum Club member (winners that maintain Best Managed status for a minimum of six consecutive years.)
