HISTORY PolyCello has been in the packaging business since 1956, with many notable milestones along the way. Here's a rough overview of where we've been. It will give you an idea of where we're headed. 1956: PolyCello is incorporated with six employees. Four colour printing, as well as conversion of polyethylene and cellophane into bags and sheets begins in Saint John, New Brunswick. 1974: Acquisition of Union Carbide operation in Amherst, NS and purchase of DuPont blown film extrusion operation in Saint John, NB. 1975: Purchase of second Union Carbide operation in Cowansville, QC, effectively doubling capacity. 1981: Amherst operation modernized and moved to a new 34,000 ft2 building. 1984: Cowansville operation consolidated in the new Amherst building with approximately 70 employees. 1987: Amherst operation expands to 70,000 ft2 and the extrusion department moves from Saint John to Amherst. Additional printing presses and converting capabilities added. 1997: 42,000 ft2 expansion for a total of 112,000 ft2 2003: 86,000 ft2 expansion, resulting in total space of 200,000 ft2 with over 300 employees. |
